Kim Jocelyn Dickson, author of The Invisible Toolbox: The Power of Reading to Your Child from Birth to Adolescence, believes that every child begins kindergarten with a lunchbox in one hand and an invisible toolbox in the other. Drawing on her experience as a parent and educator along with recent research in neuroscience, Kim explains why and how reading aloud from birth is one of the greatest gifts we can give our children.
