Dr. John Button Scholarship

June 15th, 2023 is the third anniversary of the passing of Kiwanis International Past President Dr. John Button.

The Kiwanis Foundation of Canada (KFC) approved a Memorial Scholarship for Canadian Circle K and Key Club Members who have decided to go into the Medical Field after Graduating High School. The scholarships will run for a term of 10 years, March 31, 2022 to March 31, 2031. The two Scholarships are in the amount of $5,000 each.

A nonprofit charitable foundation endorsed and approved in 1971 by the 3 Kiwanis Districts of Kiwanis International operating in Canada. It is a registered Charity and all donations are tax creditable in Canada.

We continue to fundraise to reach our target goal of $100,000 to provide the scholarships and to date have raised just over $20,000.

An application has been prepared and will be forwarded to all the Canadian Key Club and Circle K Administrators later in January 2023 (click here for a copy) The applications need to be completed and received at our KFC Office no later than March 31, 2023. The completion date is firm with no exceptions.

The goal is to raise over the next 2 to 3 years enough funds to cover the cost of the Scholarships for the remaining term. When this has been accomplished fundraising will cease. Tax Receipts will be provided.

The KFC has agreed to match the Scholarship Funds up to $5,000 to maintain $10,000 per year to cover the cost of the Scholarship until all funds are raised to cover the total cost.
