Update Imagination Library

Reminder – What’s the Imagination Library Again? (click this link)

In just a few months our initial target of 50 children has almost doubled to 94.

Some Background

We began the effort in November by partnering with our local EarlyON centre to hand out registration forms to their clients (an online version is attached in case you haven’t seen one).  Expecting lots of interest in the program we’re initially limiting registrations to families that live in Chatham (i.e. postal codes beginning with N7M & N7L)

Then we enabled online registrations through our website but we had to turn that off in December because registration requests had almost doubled our initial target of 50 children for this first year.  We had budgeted Bingo funds and committed some from our Service Fund for speaker recognition.  Thanks also to a significant number of personal donations, in January the Board agreed to increase our target for this year to 100.

3 children received their first book in January,
52 more children will receive their first book in the next 2 weeks,
and 42 more will receive their first book in March.

This program operates in the US, Canada, Australia, the UK and Ireland.  To date Over 174,000,000 Books  have been gifted to children through the Imagination Library with 1,918,219 mailed in January alone (that’s equivalent to 1 book being mailed every 1.4 seconds).
